About the Wine:
Our take on Syrah is with fruit from Reynoso Vineyard, one of our favorite vineyards in Sonoma County. Located in the Alexander Valley in northeastern Sonoma County, we’ve been sourcing fruit from this family owned vineyard since 2005. They are committed to small lots of high quality grapes and their fruit has been sold to top wine producers in California. The 2021 harvest started a few weeks earlier than normal. In general, yields were low due to the ongoing drought in CA, but quality was high and we saw a great concentration of flavors in the fruit. This was our first harvest in our remodeled Oceanside production facility, which spurred a smooth operation and made our winemaker’s lives a lot easier! Once the fruit arrived in Oceanside, we destemmed and processed it here on site. After pressing, the wines were aged for 20 months in 30% American Oak and 70% once used French Oak. American Oak in general imparts a more obvious, strong & sweeter aromas/flavors, so we only use it on our Syrahs & Petite Sirahs. We then bottled the wine in August 2023.
