The last vintage of the Tattoo Blend we produced was back in 2019, we are so excited to bring back one of our member’s favorite blends! The label is designed by our good friend Dave Hartman, owner of Big Fish Tattoo in Solana Beach. The North Coast AVA is a larger AVA encompassing many smaller AVAs from different counties, including Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino and Lake County. Most of the fruit in this blend comes from Lake County, which is only one and half hours from Napa. The altitude, climate and soils in Lake County result in grapes and wines of compelling quality and character. The 2022 growing season was consistent & mild, with all signs leading to a great harvest. Then came an extended heat wave beginning in late August that divided the season into earlier & later picks. In both instances, we received lower yields than expected, but the fruit we received was very high quality, with strong structure and terroir-driven characteristics. Once the fruit arrived in Oceanside, we destemmed and processed it here on site. The grapes then fermented for about 2 weeks. After pressing, the wine was aged for 20 months separately in once used French Oak before being blended and bottled in May 2024.
