This wine holds a special place in our hearts as it was designed by a beloved Wine Club member who became an employee, Steve Randolph. Steve loves both our Zinfandel & Petite Sirah, so he wanted to create a blend that combines his favorite characteristics of both. The name King's X came from when Steve used to play games as a child, and someone would yell King's X to halt or pause the game. We think everyone could use a King's X moment to pause, relax & enjoy this wine & loved ones.
Vintners across California are celebrating the 2023 vintage as exceptional. The 2022-2023 winter provided record breaking rainfall, which revitalized the soils and encouraged healthy canopies. A cooler Spring & Summer meant harvest started later than usual, but allowed the grapes to develop gradually. We processed around 300 tons and were extremely happy with the quality we received. Once the fruit arrived in Oceanside, we destemmed and processed it here on site. The grapes then fermented separately in macro bins for 2 weeks. After pressing, the wines were aged separately for 10 months, the Zinfandel in 20% new & 80% once used French Oak, and the Petite Sirah in 100% new American oak. The two wines were then blended and bottled in May 2024
