2022 Pine Mt Merlot

Many don’t know that Merlot is the most planted grape varietal in Bordeaux, France, and that it is actually a genetic “sibling” of Cabernet Sauvignon as they share one of the same parents, Cabernet Franc! We sourced our Merlot in 2022 from a small 4 acre vineyard in the Pine Mountain - Cloverdale Peak AVA called Sky Pine Vineyards. Located at 2,000 feet on steep hillsides, this vineyard gets good Southern exposure with full sunlight from sunrise to sunset. This results in increased UV rays which means thicker grape skins, leading to a wine that has great concentration, intensity and depth of color. We only received 4 tons of this Merlot fruit, so this is a small batch wine for us!
