About the Wine:
Our take on Syrah is with fruit from Reynoso Vineyard, one of our favorite vineyards in Sonoma County. Located in the Alexander Valley in northeastern Sonoma County, we’ve been sourcing fruit from this family owned vineyard since 2005. They are committed to small lots of high quality grapes and their fruit has been sold to top wine producers in California. The 2019 wine harvest started about 2 weeks later than normal due to a wetter winter. With the extended cool growing season, grapes ripened at lower sugar levels which many vintners celebrated as this meant the fruit was full of flavor, fresh acidity & superb balance. Once the fruit arrived in Solana Beach, we destemmed and processed it here on site. The grapes then fermented in picking bins for 2 weeks. After pressing, the wines were aged for 20 months in 30% American Oak and 70% once used French Oak. American Oak in general imparts a more obvious, strong & sweeter aromas/flavors, so we only use it on our Syrahs & Petite Sirahs.
