Gold Medal - 2023 Sommelier Challenge
Tasting Notes: Enjoy aromas of tart cherry, red plum and strawberry on the nose. Secondary notes of tomato leaf, leather and oregano add complexity to this medium body, high acid wine.
Food Pairings: You can’t go wrong with pairing this delicious Sangiovese with Italian classics like pizza or pasta with a tomato base. Hard cheeses, such as Parmesan, and cured meats would also be a great pairing.
Sonoma Valley is cradled between two mountain ranges, the Mayacamas and the Sonoma Mountains, and encompasses a community of vineyards, farms, parklands and the historic Sonoma Plaza. Known for its rich soils, ideal weather conditions and proximity to San Francisco, the Sonoma Valley is a world renowned wine region. You might not know it, but you’ve probably tried a Sangiovese before. Chianti wines are made from at least 80% of Sangiovese grapes, and it is the most popular Italian red wine in America. We’ve done our own spin on the classic, but kept this a single variety wine at 100% Sangiovese. After pressing, the wine was aged for 22 months in 20% new French Oak and 80% once used before being bottled in September 2021.
